Is your property Secure?

Security Matters in 2021

COVID-19 has people staying inside but security is still an issue. Breaking and entering

situations may not happen, but security means more than a heavy door. A landlord in San Diego

should put security on his or her to-do list. The following will require attention:

1. Doors

This is a direct entry to an apartment. The door needs to be checked for damage or wood rot. A

secure lock must be on that door.

2. Windows

Burglars can get in through a window. Windows must be secure to prevent that from happening.

A property owner might consider putting window film on the glass. Certain kinds of window

films are made of durable material that prevents smash and grab robberies.

3. Holes in the wall

Thieves are an issue, and so are rodents. Small holes, particularly in the outer apartment walls,

are avenues for vermin. Small holes are just as serious as big ones and need immediate attention.

4. Computer security

Cyber thieves are everywhere. They can break security walls and access data. A landlord’s

financial information can be quickly compromised. The same is true for the confidential records

of tenants.

5. Dropbox robbery

It is almost too easy to break into a dropbox and steal the rent money there.

Taking Action Is Not Easy

Landlords in San Diego need to take the initiative and bolster security. One barrier is the repair

contractors. Most San Diego contractors are trustworthy, but some will cut corners or overcharge

for any work. A landlord does not always know who the honest repair people are. It happens too

many times that a property owner pays top dollar for substandard work.

A landlord must never let a tenant make repairs since that repair can cause accidental code

violations. It is a smart idea to let one of the property management companies in San Diego

provide service. These professionals will make routine property inspections and do other duties

to make the apartment safe. Alta Vista Properties is a property management company that offers

excellent service.

We Are All about Security

Alta Vista Properties makes routine inspections of apartments. These are always coordinated

with the tenant beforehand. If we see that there is damage that needs repair work, we schedule

the business immediately. The contractors with whom we work are reliable people we worked

with in the past. They will not cheat a client on the invoice.

We think that dropbox rent collection is old-school and inefficient. We use electronic transfers

for rent and we arrange for these with every new tenant. The money is transferred safely and

securely. Our clients require financial reports from time to time and respond. Our software is the

best in the business and is very secure. No one can breach the security walls, so client reports are

safe and sound.

Some of our security efforts are developing rapport with existing tenants. We find out from them

whether there is suspicious activity happening in the area. We then act as soon as possible,

contacting the police and other law enforcement officials.

An excellent idea for landlords is to install security systems in upscale apartments. These attract

prospective tenants and can get a vacancy quickly filled. We can investigate this possibility for a

client. That is one of the essential services we provide.

AltaVista Properties will also do marketing, screening of prospective tenants, daily

administration, and maintenance activities for the properties we manage. A client can expect a

secure investment thanks to the vigilance of Alta Vista Properties.

Please do inquire at any time about our property management services. We can be reached at

858-274-3600 or by email at info@altavistaProperties.net. We look forward to hearing from you
